Let the Good Times Roar

This weekend was homecoming at Ohio Northern University. Homecoming is always one of my favorite weekends. I wish every weekend had the same atmosphere as homecoming weekend. Campus is so alive and buzzing with excitement. You can literally feel the excitement in the air! Alumni, current students, friends, family and faculty are invited to enjoy a memorable weekend at Ohio Northern.

Homecoming weekend is always packed full of scheduled events. Two of my favorite activities over homecoming weekend are the annual Rosie Bowl tournament and the football game.

Every year Zeta Tau Alpha alumni come back and visit their sisters during homecoming weekend. This year, we had sisters from over 20 years ago visit the house and share their stories. It was awesome to see how close they stayed, even after their time at Ohio Northern. Current sisters and alumni were able to compete in ZTA Delta Theta’s Rosie Bowl tournament. The Rosie Bowl tournament is a powder-puff football game between current sisters and alumni in remembrance of Roselyn Derby. Roselyn was a ZTA Delta Theta alumna who suffered from pancreatic cancer. Shortly after graduation, Roselyn died from her medical condition. Every year the sisters remember Roselyn and her positivity by celebrating the strong sisterhood ZTA provides for thousand of members nationwide.

Of course, another favorite event of mine is the football game. This year Ohio Northern faced Heidelberg University. The polar bears struggled through the first quarter but picked up momentum to top Heidelberg 34-20. What’s better than a polar bear win on homecoming weekend? Check out the Storify I created. You’ll be able to get an inside look at the football game vs. Heidelberg. A win definitely gave alumni and students something to celebrate.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s homecoming! Until then, let the good times roar.

  1. Allie,
Great post, and Storify. I liked your pictures, and enjoyed watching the Polar Bears beat Heidelberg for the first time in four years as well. The Rosie Bowl is a fun event to watch I had the chance to help coach the teams a few years ago. I think it is really cool to see what the Zeta Tau Alpha puts on, and how they give back. Great organization, and great blog.
