The 2016 National
Conference was held in Indianapolis, Indiana from October 21-25. National
Conference gives students the opportunity to network with public relations
professionals and other students from across the United States while enhancing
their passion for public relations. At the Crossroads of Public Relations,
students have the opportunity to attend a number of diverse development
sessions. Development sessions can range from crisis communication, social
influencers, tourism and the nonprofit industry.
ONU PRSSA continued its
legacy of winning the Star Chapter Award. Star Chapter recognizes Chapters who
meet eight of the ten chapter and professional development goals set by PRSA.
ONU PRSSA has been fortunate enough to win this award every year since its
inception, making ONU of one only two schools to do so.
ONU PRSSA was in for a
pleasant surprise at the “Circle City Celebration” Awards Ceremony and Dinner,
where we were awarded a Teahan for our outstanding relationship with the
Central Ohio PRSA Chapter. ONU PRSSA was awarded the PRSA/PRSSA Relationship
Teahan for its constant involvement in monthly luncheons, Chapter speakers and networking
events. This is ONU PRSSA’s first Teahan since 2011.
National Conference is always
a great time to build relationships with professionals, other PR majors from
schools across the US and those in your own Chapter. If you’re a member of
PRSSA, I highly recommend attending National Conference at least one time. The
experience you gain is irreplaceable and unforgettable. Plus, next year’s
National Conference is in Boston, Massachusetts and who wants to miss that?
