25 Things You Should Know as a College Student

As I officially start my senior year, I can’t believe how fast my time has gone at Ohio Northern University. Looking back there are some things I wish I would have known or realized sooner. I hope this can help guide you through your college experience.
  1. First impressions are everything so make a good one!
  2. Take chances and get involved! You never know where an opportunity can take you.
  3. Failure is inevitable. Learn from it and move on.
  4. Make time for your family. You know you miss them.
  5. Finding a balance between work and play is crucial.
  6. It is OK to cry. Sometimes it is exactly what you need and you will feel so much better afterward.
  7. Go to class and take notes.
  8. A few bad grades are not the end of the world.
  9. Stay updated with the news.
  10. Use a planner. It is almost impossible to keep everything straight in your head.
  11. Leggings are pants. This is not up for discussion.
  12. Treat yourself and buy that purse you have been eyeing.
  13. Always do something fun for spring break.
  14. Do not throw yourself at a boy. Trust me, “if he cared, he’d call”
  15. Once a cheater, always a cheater.
  16. PDA is never cute.
  17. Always respect yourself.
  18. Make sure to charge your phone before you go out.
  19. You can never take too many pictures.
  20. Do not post anything and everything you think or care about on social media. No one cares, except maybe your mom and grandma.
  21. DO NOT POST PICTURES WITH ALCOHOL. Can you say unprofessional?
  22. Taco Bell is great, but try to limit how much you eat out.
  23. The freshman 15 is real.
  24. Manage your money. There is nothing worse than seeing you only have $8.51 in your bank account.
  25. Your mom was always right, and always will be. *sigh*
