This weekend I discovered
what could be my new favorite app. The app Influenster is a platform allowing you
to post honest reviews about various products ranging from beauty products to
dog and cat supplies, discover new products, read beauty news, watch tutorials
and shop and share your favorite products.
According to Brit + Co, Influenster currently
has over two million users, making Influenster one of the fastest-growing private
companies in the United States. Influenster currently consists of over eight
million reviews and 1.6 million product pages. Products featured on Influenster
represent over 40,000 brands.
Influenster has also
capitalized on its social media presence by creating a blog which posts daily,
focusing on product news, the latest beauty, fashion and lifestyle trends and
frequently features articles submitted by bloggers in its community.
What makes Influenster unique
is that it uses social media analytics to measure its users influence on social
media. Influenster asks users to link social media accounts to create a “social
impact score” which tracks the number of friends, followers or subscribers.
Based on a user’s social impact score, you are invited to participate in
campaigns. By participating in these campaigns, you are awarded different
products based on your interests for free and who doesn’t like free stuff?
By sending these free
products, Influenster hopes users will continue to write honest reviews and use
social media to promote products. Products are always sent with a
market-research study, allowing Influenster to adequately track and market its
users likes, interests and services.
